Madeleine is an environmental health scientist who studies environmental causes of disease. She is the co-principal investigator of the Chelsea & East Boston Heat Study (C-HEAT) and the principal investigator of two studies of chronic kidney disease in El Salvador and Nicaragua. Dr. Scammell is a Chelsea resident, environmental justice activist and served as a member of the Chelsea Board of Health 2008-2018.
